Hunter Heart (December 19, 1998) is a Maltusian speedster and apart of the superhero duo. After the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion, he gained metahuman abilities and became a speedster, known as Zoom. He soon joined the Legends, meeting up with his ex-girlfriend, Mona Wu and attempts to save his brother, Ethan White from the Rogues. His efforts were in vain as Ethan sacrificed himself to save the Legends from a detonated nuclear bomb in the past.

He was then revealed to be a Maltusian by Cell after he arrived to warn them about S.Y.M.B.O.L.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Hunter Heart was born on December 19, 1998, to Robert Heart and a unknown mother. He had a close relationship with his childhood friend, Beth Kane due to Robert's and Gabi Kane's friendship. When he was four years old, Robert was murdered by an unknown person, which Hunter witnessed by looking through the stairs in the dark. He wasn't found until a day later, where the police found Hunter scared and clinching the stairs pole. He was soon adopted by Albert and Shauna White, which he developed a good relationship with Ethan White.

School Life and Particle Accelerator Explosion[]

When he was in freshman year of high school. He met a young Mona Wu at his age along with his few friends (Abraham Toni, Clara Pivot, Jiana Anthems and Nial Anderson). Both Mona and Hunter soon dated and had a relationship for two months before their relationship ended after being harshly ignored by her and attempted to be distant to him without reason. This began a year of resentment towards his friends as slowly over time, he would witness his other friends become distant as well while they still claimed to be Hunter's friend.

On December 11, 2013, he was walking on the school football field after a party school. They began arguing about how they're fake and how they don't care about him. Jiana tried to calm the situation but Hunter only told her to back off and explained that ever since his breakup with Mona, everyone has been quick to judging Hunter but doesn't want to hear the story. This resulted in Mona telling him she did so because she didn't want to hurt him before Hunter pointing out that she ultimately failed at doing so. Nial ended up explaining that despite his anger being reasonable, he expresses that he believes that Hunter is acting like an "asshole" which Clara ends up agreeing with him. Right, when Hunter was about to respond, the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator is heard exploding, which caused a dark matter wave to surge after them. He was soon struck by lightning, which caused a giant scar on his chest and was put into a coma for one month.[1]

He woke up and realized that his friends were unconscious before being sent home. The same day, his childhood friend, Beth Kane found him and later hanged out with him at the park. This is when he discovers his super-speed as he accidentally dropped his drink through phasing. He runs but causes time to slow down for him and him to run extremely fast simultaneously. This caused him to crashed into an ice cream van. They soon talk, explaining to Beth that he has super-speed but also tells her that he didn't want her to tell anyone, which she agrees. They soon walk together.

Speedster Life[]

He gets a ring from a doorbell, revealing Cisco Ramon. He explains that he's here because he needs to run some tests before explaining that the explosion was accidentally started by S.T.A.R. Labs and that they're trying to make amends. He asks Shauna if he can go under her permission before reluctantly shaking her head 'yes.' They end up going to S.T.A.R. Labs where he meets Harrison Richard Wells.[2]

Joining the Legends[]

Crisis of 2019[]

After Earth-55 was destroyed and later merged into Earth-115 along with Earth-77, Hunter Heart was given an alternate life on an alternate Earth.

Personality[]

As a kid, he was always isolated, which was briefly stopped when dating Mona but after his breakup with her, he became extremely angry and resentful towards his friends after they decide to do the same. Noting that when he is around, his friends pretend to be his friend, which only angered him even more.

Over his superhero career, Hunter seems to have a negative personality about him. When joining Legends, he rarely talked to Mona Wu and was seen as very quiet. When Leo Snart asked him why, he explains that he doesn't like people for the simple fact that they've shown to be unloyal to others, also explaining he dealt with this at some point during his social life. Despite this, he is shown to lean on people sometimes as when he expressed his dislike for Valentine's Day, he allowed Kara to let him explain and vent his dislike for the holiday and he did soon apologize to Leo after preventing the Rogues from messing up with the timeline in World War 2, in which he accepts Hunter's apology.

As the vigilante, Zoom
As the vigilante, Zoom
While having heroic morales, he usually doesn't have the same morals when it comes to certain individuals such as with Godspeed, where he almost killed him in a fight but was talked out of taking his life by Leo. Just like his civilian self, he also seems to have a negative personality but on a more scale as he would purposely insult Damien Darhk's eyes, sarcastically asking if his eyes are just extremely blue or if he just actually blind before instantly insulting Deathstroke by claiming to say that at least Damien didn't purposely scoop his eye out with a metal spoon. Hunter usually treats his Zoom alter ego as both first-person and third-person as when he is in his civilian form, he speaks as Zoom is another person but vice-versa when he is his Zoom alter ego. He has shown to be also ruthless similar to Earth-1's Zoom but he recognizes that his limits and doesn't attempt to act murderously in any way. It's also hinted that he has anger issues as his way to fighting is shown to be brutal.
